The Nativity

  • Shipwright Watergate Street London, England, SE8 3JF United Kingdom (map)
Title of the document Book Now

dates: 9 - 13 December 2025.

times: 7.30pm, and 2pm on Saturdays.

duration: approx. 90 minutes (plus a 30 minute interval).

The Shipwright pantomime returns for it’s fifth year.

Meet Mary and Joseph. They’re two thirtysomethings, born just before the turn of the millennium (the first millennium). They live in Zone 3 Galilee, in their tiny flat, with their donkey, Wonky. And absolutely nothing, nothing whatsoever, can stop Mary’s ambitions of becoming Prime Mayor of Galilee. No angels. No shepherds. No wise men. Certainly no sex. And that’s that.

It’s like your classic Primary School Christmas Show, but with even dodgier costumes, even smaller budgets, even more waving at family members mid-show, and also loads of swearing and sex jokes and original songs.

The fifth show from the team behind Sleeping Beauty (2024), The Emperor’s New Clothes (2023), Peter Pan (2022) and The Pied Piper (2021), this is The AlterNativity. It’s Nativity, but Panto. Book your tickets now whilst there’s still room at the inn/theatre.

What is Pay What You Can?

The Saver, Standard and Supporter tickets all get the same experience, but we let you choose which one’s right for you. We suggest you get a Standard ticket, but if times are tough, the Saver ticket is just as good! If you can spare a few more quid, then buying a Supporter ticket helps us keep making great shows at the Shipwright and helps to pay-it-forward for those buying a Saver ticket.

We believe passionately in the accessibility of art (err, pantomime) for everyone, and that no-one should be excluded because of their financial circumstances. If the Saver ticket is still too much, and you’d love to see the show, get in touch with general@theshipwright.co.uk and we’ll see what we can do.

Other Ways To Save

If you live on Watergate Street or are a member of one of our partner engagement groups then you can come to any event for free. We can offer two tickets per show on the day so long as the show isn’t already sold out - find out more here.
